Transformers Age of Extinction Voyager Class Evasion Mode Optimus Prime Figure

Transformers Age of Extinction Voyager Class Evasion Mode Optimus Prime Figure

Optimus Prime and the Auto-bots are faced with a new kind of war. What were once strong aliiances are no standing in doubt. Nonetheless the planet is in need of their protection. Now more than ever before! Optimus Prime adapts, redesigning his alternate mode so he can move unrecognized. If he cannot fight the battle with firepower on the front lines, he can fight it with covert manoeuvres from the edge.

It’s time to gear up for massive Transformers action with this awesome 2-in-1 Evasion Mode Optimus Prime figure! This powerful leader of the Autobots is a terrible powerhouse in robot mode, firing blasts at the Deceptions with his ion cannon. But he’ll mow them down when he’s in rumbling truck mode! Convert him back and forth as the battle rages on! Can any enemy stand against him? There’s only one way to find out!

When you open him up, he looks like Optimus Prime, and when he transforms into vehicle mode he looks more like the throwback model of the G1 and not so much like the truck in the actual movie paint job, which is more run down and rusted. This is mainly because many people complained that Optimus Prime did not have the flat nose look of the G1 while transformed. Nevertheless he looks so awesome in vehicle mode that he is arguably better looking than most of the classics! We really like the fact that this is a movie toy that looks like a G1 figure.

Transforming Optimus Prime can be a little fiddly as you would expect with most transformers toys, but once he is fully transformed he looks pretty impressive and big. You will probably question how he becomes such a small truck after the transformation is complete to the movie version robot mode. Getting him back into vehicle mode is really tricky. There are instructions that show you how to do it step by step, and we highly recommend checking them out for your first attempt in getting him back. It took around 5 minutes to get him into robot mode, and around 15 minutes to get him back to vehicle mode.

One thing we are a little less sure of is the weapon that Optimus has. It just doesn’t really fit with his structure. When his weapon is pegged in his arm he is not really grabbing the trigger, and he doesn’t hold the gun the way it should be held. What we find interesting however is that if you have Voyager Dark of the Moon Megatron, the gun fits perfectly into his hand the way it should be held. Having said this, it is just a weapon and can be used with Optimus or not dependent on your preference. This is just something that we felt didn’t really fit with him as much as it does with Megatron.

The details in the sculpture of Optimus’s face look pretty spectacular. It’s possibly one of the best face sculpts we have seen on the movie version of him, even if he doesn’t have that desired mouth guard. We don’t see this as much of as much of a disappointment since most of the time he doesn’t actually wear it. There is plenty of movement and rotation around the body and feels really sturdy. He is a great looking action figure and gets a real thumbs up.

This Transformer set is recommended for ages 5 years and over and is available on Amazon.co.uk.
